Configure role permissions for Leave Management

This article explains how to enable the role permissions required for Leave Management in Zenoti. It covers permissions for managing leave types, leave policies, leave balances, and leave approvals.

Overview

Leave Management actions are controlled by role-based permissions. Before employees or managers can use Leave Management features, an administrator must enable the relevant permissions under the appropriate security role.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure the following:

  • Leave Management is enabled for your organization.

  • You have access to organization-level Configurations.

This feature is currently in beta and can be enabled only by the Zenoti product team.

Configure role permissions

Follow these steps to enable Leave Management permissions:

  1. From the organization level, click Configurations.

  2. Select Security.

  3. Click Security Roles.

  4. Open the role for which you want to enable permissions.

  5. Navigate to the Permissions tab.

  6. Expand the Employee Manager section.

    Available permissions:  

    The following table describes the Leave Management permissions available under the Employee Manager section:

    Permission 

    What it controls 

    Leave Types – Add, Edit, Delete

    Allows the user to create,modify, and delete leave types.

    Leave Policy – Add, Edit, Delete

    Allows the user to create,modify, and delete leave policies.

    View PTO Balance – View All

    Allows the user to view the PTO balance of all employees. Also allows the manager to submit leave requests on behalf of employees.

    View PTO Balance – View Self

    Allows the user to view their own PTO balance.

    Edit PTO Balance – Edit All

    Allows the user to edit the PTO balance of all employees.

    Edit PTO Balance – Edit Self

    Allows the user to edit their own PTO balance.

    Approve Time Off

    Allows the manager to approve or deny employee leave requests.

    Self-Approve Time Off

    Allows the user to approve their own leave requests.

  7. Enable the required permissions based on the user's role.

  8. Click Save.

Key points
  • The View All permission for PTO balance is required for a manager to create leave requests on behalf of employees.

  • The Approve Time Off permission controls whether a user can approve or deny leave requests from other employees.

  • The Self-Approve Time Off permission is separate and must be enabled independently if needed.

  • To enable the Leave Management menu option for a specific business, contact the Zenoti support team
