Manage Prescriptions (v1)

Following a medical consultation, a printable form or prescription is provided to patients, outlining medical recommendations. These prescriptions cover a variety of procedures, ranging from non-invasive treatments like Botox injections to more invasive interventions such as hair transplants.

We have introduced an enhanced version of the Prescriptions feature with additional capabilities. To learn more, refer to the Manage Prescriptions (v2) article.

To enable Prescriptions v2 for your organization, contact your Zenoti Customer Success Manager (CSM) or representative.

If your business went live on Zenoti on or after July 22, 2025, or if you had the Prescriptions feature enabled after this date, your business will have Prescriptions v2 turned on by default.

Required roles: Any role with access to the Administrator mode

Required permissions: Prescription sets (Add, Edit, Delete)

A medication set groups multiple medication items, their dosages, and instructions—such as pills, injections, or dietary plans—into one package. This setup lets front-desk staff add several medications at once instead of entering each item manually.

When updating prescriptions from the appointment book, front-desk staff can select a medication set and add it directly to the prescription. They can then print or email the prescription to the guest.

At the organization level, click the Configuration icon.
Search for and select Medication sets from the Prescriptions section.
To create a new medication set, click Add.
Enter the required details in the General tab and click Next.
Enter the name of the item or select the relevant name from the list of auto-suggestions.
You can also create prescription items from Configuration > Prescriptions.
Enter the intake quantity of the dosage. Example: 2 per day
Enter the dosage instructions such as after meals or before meals.
Enter the dosage potency indication level such as strong, high, low, or medium. Example: Strong medication (only for adults).
Note
- To add items, click Add and provide the required details.
- To delete an item from the medication set, click the delete icon.
Click Finish.

You can view all prescriptions in the new Prescriptions tab within the patient profile, making follow-ups more convenient.

Use the next visit date in the prescription to automatically send notifications to patients, keeping them informed about their upcoming appointments.

To enable notifications, go to Configurations> Prescriptions > Prescription Actions and turn on the Notify guest about prescription's next visit date setting under Guest Communication.

Assign tasks to employees based on the next visit date, ensuring timely follow-ups and preparation for the patient’s next visit.

To assign tasks to employees, go to Configuration > Employee > Tasks and turn on the setting.

Note: This feature is disabled by default.

Considerations

You can create and edit medication sets only at the organization level. At the center level, you can only edit existing medication sets.

Allow prescription signing

You can authorize selected doctors and specialists to sign prescriptions, even if the prescriptions are not directly assigned to them. A prescription can only be sent to the guest after signing is enabled and completed by an authorized employee.

After signing is enabled, the authorized employee’s name appears in the doctor drop down on the prescription page.

At the center level, click the Employee icon and navigate to Employees.
Select the desired employee from the available list.
To allow the selected employee to sign the prescriptions, in the General tab select the Allow Prescription Signing checkbox.
Click Save.

Considerations

The employee must enter the login credentials whenever a signature is required.
After the signature is captured, the prescription is locked and cannot be edited.
