Employee Split Tips v1 report

Important

This is a legacy report. Businesses that have signed up with Zenoti after April 2022 do not have access to this report.

Tips are part of income that service providers earn. It is essential for businesses and providers to report them (by filing taxes). To this end, it is useful to keep a record of tips providers earn to be compliant with local laws and regulations.

When to use this report?

Use this report to:

  • View details of Tips that each employee collected in a selected time period.

  • View invoice wise tip details for each employee and the mode of payment (such as cash, credit card, check) used by guests to pay the tip.

  • Verify numbers in case of disputes about the tips employees earned if their payroll numbers do not match.

Important notes
  • Ensure that you turn on the Employee Split Tips Summary report from the organization level.

  • You can split tips from the invoice level if the organization level setting for Split Tips is on.

  • The report shows the total tip amounts (these amounts need not be necessarily split among employees - any amount that was given as a tip is recorded in this report).

  • If you want to see a summary of tips earned by employees with a particular job, see the Employee Tips Summary report.

  • If you use the same filters in the Employee Tips Summary report and the Employee Split Tips report, then the Tips in both reports for a given employee should match.

  • Stick to one set of filters across different time periods to compare and contrast tip amounts across time periods. For example, stick to filters such as by Sale Date with Invoice Type as All, or by Collection Date with Invoice Type as Closed.

  1. Ensure that you are at the center for which you want to run the report.

  2. On the Main menu, click the Reports tab.

  3. On the Reports Dashboard, click Employee > Sales (from the filter).

  4. From the list of reports, click Split Tips. The report opens in a new tab.

  5. Click Refresh to see the report. Best Practice: To view all columns of the report, we recommend that you always export the report.

  6. Use the Excel or .CSV icons to export the report.

Description

Date Type

By Sale Date By Collection Date By Closed Date

  • By Sale Date: Select by Sale Date to view the report by date of Service or any other item such as Products, Memberships, Packages. If you select by Sale Date, the report shows both, Open and Closed invoices (includes invoices where tips were paid and where tips were not paid). :

    Note

The Sale date for a service is reported on the date the actual service took place (not the date on which a service was booked or the date when an invoice was closed).

  • By Collection Date: Select by Collection Date to view the report by the date on which Tips were collected from customers - this is the date on which guests pay for a service.

If you select by Collection Date, the report shows only Closed invoices where tips were paid (does not include closed invoices where tips were not paid).

  • By Closed Date: Select by Closed Date to view the report based on the date on which invoices were closed. If you select by Closed Date, the report shows only Closed invoices (both, where tips were paid and where tips were not paid).

    Note

The Closed date is the date on which an invoice is closed (front desk clicks the Close and Email or Close and Print button). Usually, invoices are closed after full payment has been received. If the front desk closes an invoice without receiving the full payment, Zenoti tracks the due amount against the guest.

Specify if you want to view data for Open, Closed, or All invoices. Select All if you want to view all Tips paid during a selected time period. :

Important

Open invoices are those invoices on which guests have made:

a) Partial payments using payment types such as cash, card, check, or custom payment methods.

b) Partial payments using redemption instruments such as memberships, packages, gift cards, or prepaid cards.

c) Full payments (but the invoices have not been closed by the front desk).

Note

When the front desk collects partial payments, the invoice can be printed or emailed to the guest - but it cannot be closed. In such cases, Zenoti tracks the due amount from the guest.

Closed invoices are those where the front desk has closed the invoices where guests have made full payments using any one of the following methods:

a) Any of the payment types (cash, card, check, or custom payment method).

b) Any of the redemption instruments (memberships, packages, gift cards, or prepaid cards).

You can alternatively choose Custom from the list and specify custom dates.
