Configure Payment Collection for $0 Due Amounts
Overview
Businesses can configure whether to collect payment details when the total due amount for a transaction is $0. Enabling this setting ensures that payment details are stored for future recurring transactions, minimizing disruptions due to failed payments. This configuration is beneficial for businesses managing memberships and subscription-based services.

Key Terms
Default Payment Method: The primary payment method is saved for the customer.
Backup Payment Method: A secondary payment method is saved in the system, for secanrios wherein case the default method fails.
Due Today Amount: The total charge applicable for the current transaction.
Recurring Payments: Automated deductions for future transactions as per membership or subscription agreements.
To enable this feature at the organizational level:
Navigate to Configurations.
Search for and select Online Booking Settings under the Online Booking section.
Click Webstore V2 and expand the Membership section.
To enable saving payment details for no dues, turn on Collect due today payment details if the amount is $0 toggle.
Click Publish to save the changes.
Payment processing scenarios
The feature determines whether payment details should be collected when the total due today is $0.
Scenario 1: Default and backup payment methods available
Setting: Collect due today payment details if the amount is $0
If the setting is OFF: No payment details are collected for today’s transaction, but the default and backup payment methods remain stored for future payments.
If the setting is ON: The system collects payment details during the transaction to ensure seamless processing of future recurring payments.
Scenario 2: Only the default payment method is available
Setting: Collect due today payment details if the amount is $0
If the setting is OFF: No payment details are collected today, and future payments rely on the saved default payment method.
If the setting is ON: The system collects payment details as a precaution. If the default method fails in future transactions, a stored card can be used for fallback processing.
Impacts & Considerations
The Collect due today payment details if the amount is $0 setting applies to recurring payments only and does not affect one-time transactions.
Payment processor policies on $0 transactions may vary; ensure compliance with the selected payment gateway for your business.
