Sales Insights Dashboard

Use this article to view, analyze, and act on revenue performance data using the Sales Insights Dashboard.

Overview

The Sales Insights Dashboard gives business owners and managers a consolidated view of revenue performance across every selling stream — services, products, memberships, packages, gift cards, and prepaid cards. It replaces multiple fragmented reports with a single, intuitive interface that breaks down sales by type, category, and performance driver across Salons, Spas, Medical Spas, and Fitness centers.

The dashboard is available to:

  • Center Managers to monitor revenue for their center

  • Zonal Managers to review performance across centers in their zone

  • Org Owners and Admins to track and compare revenue across the organization

The Sales Insights Dashboard includes:

  • Header filters for time selection and previous-period comparison

  • Item-type tabs to focus on a specific revenue stream

  • Overview KPI tiles showing aggregated revenue metrics

  • Trend and breakdown widgets (Sales by type, Sales by type trend, Best and Least selling categories)

  • A Discounts and refund analysis section with a Discount breakdown table

Note

Data refreshes every 24 hours, so updates from the last 24 hours may not appear yet. The last refresh time is shown below the dashboard header.

Access the Sales Insights Dashboard
  1. Go to Data & Insights.

  2. Select Analytics beta.

  3. Select Sales insights.

The Sales Insights Dashboard appears alongside the other Analytics Express dashboards, including Executive summary, Employee insights, Appointment insights, and Guest insights.

Navigate Item Type Tabs

The dashboard organizes data into tabs so you can focus on a single revenue stream at a time:

  • All Item Types (default)

  • Products

  • Services

  • Memberships

  • Packages

  • Giftcards

  • Pre-paid cards

Note

Selecting a tab updates the KPI tiles and widgets to reflect only that item type. The All Item Types tab shows aggregated totals across every stream.

Use Time Filters

Available Timeframes

You can filter data using predefined or custom ranges, including:

  • Week-to-date (WTD) — default

  • Month-to-date (MTD)

  • Quarter-to-date (QTD)

  • Year-to-date (YTD)

  • Previous month

  • Last 6 months

  • Fiscal week — select a specific week or range of weeks within a year

  • Custom range — up to the last 2 completed years

Notes on Time Filters

  • Fiscal week availability depends on your organization's week-start setting. Week 1 begins on the first occurrence of that day in the year.

  • For Fiscal Week, you can select dates ranging from Week 1 of the last completed year to the current time period. Only fully completed fiscal weeks are available for selection.

When you select the Custom range, Zenoti disables comparison against previous periods.

Understand Time Grain

Trend widgets adjust their time grain automatically based on the selected date range:

Time Range

Default Grain

1–14 days

Daily

15–89 days

Weekly

90–366 days

Monthly

More than 366 days

Quarterly

Note

When Fiscal Week is selected, the grain defaults to Weekly and the X-axis shows values such as “Week 1 - 2025” and “Week 2 - 2025”.

Compare Performance

You can compare the selected period against: Previous year (default)

Comparison is available only when the selected period is not a custom date range.

Understand Overview KPI Tiles

On the All Item Types tab, the dashboard displays six overview KPI tiles that summarize revenue for the selected period. Each tile shows an aggregated total and links to a detailed core report for reconciliation.

KPI

Definition

Net Sales

Total sales for the selected period and item types after discounts and refunds are applied.

Gross Sales

Total sales for the selected period before discounts and refunds are applied.

Total Invoices

Total number of invoices generated during the selected period.

Avg. Sale per Invoice

Average sales value generated for each invoice during the selected period.

Refunds

Total value refunded during the selected period.

Discounts

Total value of discounts applied during the selected period.

Note

KPI tiles update based on the selected tab. Individual item-type tabs may display additional metrics specific to that revenue stream, such as units sold. Clicking View details on any KPI tile redirects you to the relevant core report with filters pre-applied.

Understand Trend and Breakdown Widgets

Below the overview tiles, the dashboard includes chart widgets that show how sales are distributed and how they trend over time.

Sales by Type Breakdown

Displays a pie chart showing the share of total sales contributed by each item type — services, products, memberships, packages, and gift cards — along with the value and percentage for each.

Sales by Type Trend

Displays a stacked bar chart of sales by item type over the selected period, with a dashed line representing the previous-year comparison. The time grain follows your time filter selection.

Best Selling Categories

Lists the top-performing categories by sales for the selected period and item type, helping you identify what is driving revenue.

Least Selling Categories

Lists the lowest-performing categories by sales, helping you identify underperforming areas to act on.

Analyze Discounts and Refunds

The Discounts and refund analysis section summarizes how discounts and refunds affect revenue. It displays the following KPI tiles:

  • Total Discounts: total value of discounts applied during the period.

  • Avg. Discount: average discount value per discounted invoice.

  • Total Refunds: total value refunded during the period.

  • Avg. Refund: average refund value per refunded invoice.

Discount Breakdown

The Discount breakdown table shows how discounts are distributed across item types. All columns link to the related core report for reconciliation.

Column

Description

Item Type

The revenue stream, such as service, product, membership, package, or gift card.

Total Sales

Total sales for the item type during the selected period.

Total Discounts

Total discount value applied to the item type.

Total Invoices

Number of invoices that include the item type.

Avg. Discount per Invoice

Total discounts divided by total invoices for the item type.

Discount %

Total discounts as a percentage of total sales for the item type.

Reconcile Dashboard Data with Core Reports

When you select View details on a KPI tile or widget, Zenoti opens the corresponding core report (for example, the Sales Accrual report) with filters pre-applied. A “Here's how you can reconcile” guide appears, explaining how to recreate the dashboard value within the report.

For example, when reconciling discounts, you can use Total Sales (Inc. Tax) to reconcile total sales and the Discount column for total discounts, count distinct invoices where Discount is greater than 0 to get the number of discounted invoices, and group the results by Item Type.

The reconciliation guide also includes two options:

  • Missed a column?: guidance on adding any columns you need in the report.

  • Metric definitions: opens the definitions for the metrics shown in the report.

Note

If the selected period is 31 days or less, the time filter is carried forward to the report automatically. If the selected period exceeds 31 days, a pop-up informs you that the report will load with data pre-filled for the last month. You can adjust the filters within the report to analyze a different period.

View KPI and Metric Definitions

Each KPI tile and widget includes a help icon that opens the definition of the metrics it displays. The Metric definitions link in the reconciliation guide opens the same definitions for the core report you are viewing, so you can confirm exactly how each value is calculated.

Configure Dashboard Widgets

All widgets on the Sales Insights Dashboard are shown by default. Unlike the Analytics Express dashboard, there is no option to configure or reorder the widgets on this dashboard.

Manage Permissions

Admins control access to the Sales Insights Dashboard using role-based permissions. Role-based filters apply automatically, so each user sees only the data their role allows:

  • Center Manager: can view only their center.

  • Zonal Manager: can view any center in their zone.

  • Organization Admin: has full access across the organization.

Steps to Configure Permissions

  1. Go to Admin > Security Roles.

  2. Select the required role.

  3. Open the Permissions tab.

  4. Search for Analytics Express – Sales Insights.

  5. Enable View as needed.

  6. Save changes.

Note

Currently, only View permissions are available for this dashboard.
