Rounding off is the process of adjusting the due amount on an invoice to the multiples of currency denominations defined by a business. It makes the payment process easier for businesses and guests.

Round off invoice for all payment types

1. At the organization level, click the Admin icon.

2. Navigate to Organization > Organizations.

3. On the Manage Organizations page, click Settings.

4. Expand the Invoices & Receipts section.

5. Select the Round off the sale price check box.

6. Select the rounding method:

  • Lower: Round off the invoice to the nearest higher number, a multiple of the specified rounding limit

  • Upper: Round off the invoice to the nearest lower number, a multiple of the specified rounding limit.

  • Nearest: Round off the invoice to the nearest whole number

7. From the denomination list, select the rounding limit.

8. Click Save.

On the invoice, the due amount is rounded off and auto-populated in the Amount box.

This adjustment can be seen as Rounding Adjustment on the left-hand side of the invoice.

Round off invoice for cash payments

Businesses operating in regions that have stopped lower currency denominations such as pennies; for these businesses cash payment is a challenge as guests either pay more or less than the bill, which is a loss to the guest or to the business.

  1. At the organization level, click the Admin icon.

  2. Navigate to Organization > Organizations.

  3. On the Manage Organizations page, click Settings.

  4. Expand the Invoices & Receipts section.

  5. Select the Round off the sale price check box.

  6. Select the Round off invoice for cash payments check box.

  7. Select the rounding method:

  • Lower: Round off the invoice to the nearest higher number, a multiple of the specified rounding limit

  • Upper: Round off the invoice to the nearest lower number, a multiple of the specified rounding limit.

  • Nearest: Round off the invoice to the nearest whole number

8. From the denomination list, select the rounding limit.

9. Click Save.

On the invoice, the due amount is rounded off and auto-populated in the Amount box.

Cash payments are not rounded off in the following scenarios:

  • Scheduled payments

  • Group invoices

  • Pay Now

  • Offline payment refund

Note: If you manually adjust the invoice in these scenarios, you record the adjusted amount as cash adjustment in register closure.
