On Zenoti, you can set up commissions and pay rates at various levels such as service, product, job, and employee. To organize commissions and pay rates better, enable the payroll plans feature for your organization. It lets you create and manage payroll plans at the zone level with customizable commissions or pay rates based on revenue slabs. Assign these plans to employees and jobs across centers in the zone.

When you enable Payroll Plans for your organization, you can mark work tasks as production hours. Learn how to set up work tasks.

To define revenue slabs based on the revenue per production hour, when setting up work tasks, enable the Manager and employees can select work tasks at the time of check-ins, and manager can assign payrate by work task setting.

Available payroll plan types on Zenoti:

You can choose from the following payroll plan types:

  • Service commission: Set up commissions based on the service and product revenues generated by an employee.

  • Product commission: Set up commissions based on the product revenue generated by an employee or product-to-service revenue ratio of the employee.

  • Payrate based on revenue: Set up pay rates for an employee based on the service and(or) product revenue generated by the employee.

In service and product commission plans, you can select to pay the highest qualified commission or the cumulative commission.

For example, you give a 5% commission for revenue between $0 and $100 and a 10% commission for revenue between $100 and $200. An employee has generated $150 in revenue.

Then, the highest qualified commission = 10% of 150 = $15


The cumulative commission = 5% of 100 + 10% of 50 = $10

Create a service commission plan:

  1. At the zone level, click the Employee icon and navigate to Employees > Payroll Plans.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Select Service Commission plan type.

  4. Enter the plan name and code.

  5. Select the service category.

  6. Next to Consider Revenue from, select the required option.

  7. Next to Consider revenue range based on, select the required option.

  8. Next to Commission Multiplier, select the desired options for Percentage (%) and Flat Amount ($).

  9. Next to Calculate employee commission, select the desired option.
    Note: When you consider revenue from products, Zenoti considers the highest qualified commission by default. You cannot select cumulative commission.

  10. Specify service commissions in percentage or flat amounts based on revenue slabs.

Tip: To delete a revenue slab, click the delete icon next to it.

Create a product commission plan:

  1. At the zone level, click the Employee icon and navigate to Employees > Payroll Plans.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Select Product Commission plan type.

  4. Enter the plan name and code.

  5. Next to Consider Revenue from, select the required option.

  6. Next to Consider revenue range based on, select the required option.
    Note: You will see only the Total Revenue and Total sale price before discount options if you select Products to Services Ratio at step 5.

  7. Select the required options for Commission Multiplier in percentage and flat amount.

  8. Specify product commissions in percentage or flat amounts based on revenue slabs and click Add.

Tip: To delete a revenue slab, click the delete icon next to it.

Create a payrate plan based on revenue:

  1. At the zone level, click the Employee icon and navigate to Employees > Payroll Plans.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Select Payrate based on Revenue.

  4. Enter the plan name and code.

  5. Next to Consider Revenue from, select the required option.

  6. Next to Consider revenue range based on, select the required option.

  7. Specify the payrates in flat amounts based on revenue slabs.

Tip: To delete a revenue slab, click the delete icon next to it.

Assign payroll plans to an employee

You can assign a payroll plan to an employee working in the respective zone.

  1. At the center level, click the Employee icon and go to Employees > Employees.

  2. Click the first name of the employee.

  3. Under the Commissions tab, choose the plan type and the plan.

    You can select one or more plans for an employee.

You can assign only one pay rate plan to an employee. However, you can assign multiple service and product commission plans. When you assign multiple commission plans of the same type, Zenoti calculates the total commission as the sum of commissions from the individual plans. For example, if an employee earns a service commission of $1500 from Plan-1 and $2000 from Plan-2, then the employee's total service commission will be $3500.

Assign payroll plans to a job

You can assign a payroll plan to a job created at the respective zone level and at all centers in that zone.

  1. At the zone level, click the Employee icon and navigate to Employees > Jobs.

  2. Click the job name.

  3. Under the Commissions tab, choose the plan type and the plan.

    You can select one or more plans for a job.

Note: Before deleting a payroll plan, you must unassign it from all employees and jobs.
