After you set up the Book Now button, when a visitor clicks the Book Now button on Facebook or Instagram pages, Google Tag Manager tracks the following events using the enhanced data layer support:

  1. Visitor accesses the Webstore from Facebook or Instagram

  2. Visitor clicks the Checkout or Reservation buttons

  3. Visitor clicks the Confirm button (booking or purchase)

    Using these events, you can get actionable insights in Google Analytics.

Prerequisite: To enable this, you must first enable Data Layer in Webstore.

To enable data layer in Webstore

  1. At the organization level, click the Admin icon and navigate to Organization > Organizations.

  2. Click the Online Booking tab and click the Webstore V2 template.

  3. Expand Analytics.

  4. Turn ON the Enable DataLayer

  5. Click Publish.

The settings are saved and published.

Note: These tags and triggers are available as a preconfigured JSON file, which you can import to your Google Tag Manager Account.

To use the pre-configured tags and triggers

  1. Download the Pre-configured Tags and Triggers JSON file (Right click and select Open Link in New Tab )

  2. Import the Pre-configured JSON file to your GTM Account

  3. Update your Google Analytics Id in your Google Tag Manager account

To get actionable insights from the Book Now events

  1. In Google Analytics, go to Behavior > Events > Overview.

  2. Click the relevant event component.

    1. Note:

      The events in Google Analytics include four components to track these user interactions and sort them into reports.

      • Event category

      • Event action

      • Event label

      • Event value

  3. To know the information on the event category, click Event Category.

  4. Click Book Now.

  5. Click the relevant event action.

    The event actions include confirm booking and reservation for services, and checkout and purchase for Gift card, memberships, and packages.

  6. To know the booking medium, click the event label.

Track the following information:

  • Total events: the number of times events occurred

  • Unique events: the number of times an event was seen at least once within a session

    Tip: The ideal way to track the Book Now events is to use Unique events, and not Total events.

  • Event value: the total number of events multiplied by the value you assigned to them

  • Average value of each event: the total value of each event divided by the number of events
